The Feast of the Italian Republic is the main Italian public holidays. Is celebrated on 2nd ofJune to commemorate the birth of the Italian Republic.
2 and 3 June 1946 was held, in fact, the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage which Italians were called to the polls to express their views on what form of government, monarchy or republic, giving the country after the fall of Fascism . After 85 years of his reign, with 12,718,641 votes against 10,718,502 [1] Italy became a Republic and the monarchs of the House of Savoy were deposed and exiled.
